I'm off to Vancouver Island in a short time and was going to take my bike.

I've read that Air Canada (who I am flying with) consider a bike bag as one of my inclusive checked bags and fees only apply if you are checked bags + cycle bag...

Has anybody flown with Air Canada and have experience of taking a bike with them?

Snap, I'm flying on the 22/8, to Vancouver. I was going to take mine, but decided to hire instead....that's no use to you whatsoever is it? But, when are you there? I'm trying to work in a couple of day passes to take some trails in.

Ah, a little later than you. I go out at the end of September.

My hotel is at what looks like the start/end of loads of local trails and I contacted the local club who have said somebody will definitely be able to take me out if there isn't a local ride on.

I want it/something there so I can have a ride day but also so that if I wake up early then I can just go for a ride...

At least your be closer to the parts bin for when you break ya bike Dave....

Unless you have a bike bag and very very good travel insurance... I would hire a bike when there...

I was supposed to fly with air Canada on Sunday to Van, just turn up with your bike in a box, max 32kg weight limit, pay £20 each way and thats it.

Taking bike to Morocco in October, Easyjet, I wander how it will pan out. Probably look like a panel beater has had at it.

Because bike bags are over size they go on last and have to be lifted by two peeps. Wrap your bike in your pads as well. on flights to geneva I've watched my bike being loaded a few times.

Chatting up scaffolders, while wearing lycra and tempting them with lucozade and marshmallow tea cakes....roger.

So, another EHMTB top tip:

"If you want to fly Air Canada and take your bike, be sure to first chat up some scaffolders, while wearing lycra and tempting them with lucozade and marshmallow tea cakes asking if you can cover your frame in their yellow tube wrap foam stuff"

Anyone would think we're Dutch....yesh!
