Was up in Wales last week with three mates.

Had a go at Cwmcarn red trail on sunday. To say it's a tech climb is making it sound easy! That said, climbing is not my forte, being 18 stone! But it is about 6km of climbing from the start, so be prepared! Lots of roots, jagged rocks and loose rocks on the paths. Done quite a bit of pushing!

Once you get to the top, there's 2 freeride areas, one black and one red. Good fun!

When you start the final descent, a lot of it is pretty slim, very rocky and rooty (worse than the climb!) and if you come off, you will get hurt! So wear pads etc.

Personally, it wasn't my favourite.

We done Brechfa and Afan too. Brechfa was very wet on the friday but still very rideable, Was great fun, even in the rain!

Afan was in fantastic condition on saturday with very little water left over from the deluge on thurs/fri, just a few puddles and a bit of mud. We done W2 and started from the lower car park doing the first half of The Wall. Some of Whyte's Level was closed with diversions in place but what you don't know, you don't miss! But this was still my favourite!

All in all, a fantastic trip! Just very annoyed i've waited 42 years to do it! Wasn't quite fit enough but maybe i can work on that. And on my weight too! I can't work on my age though!!

My bike was fantastic all weekend, just forgot to unlock my rear shock on the final descent at Cwmcarn! Def need a dropper seat post!

I'd just like to say, if you're reading this and are THINKING of going to ANY of these sorts of places, DON'T THINK ABOUT IT, DO IT!!!!

The only thing I would say about camping at Cwm Carn is that a lot of people have things stolen over night so I've heard so be carefull, but as I say that's just what I hear.

Noticed a few yokels floating through the car park in their chav-mobiles in the afternoon too, scoping out cars etc. I've also heard of stuff going missing from there.

If people leave stuff lying about. Crime will follow sadly.

Travel plan then for the weekend

Friday 13th - travel to Cwm Carn for red XC loop in the morning. Then after lunch travel to Afan Forest Park for half skyline and whites decent (?) in the Afternoon (approx 3 1/2 hours to Cwm and another 1/2 hour drive to Afan). They have their own campsite
so plan is to stay the night.
Sat 14th - earlyish start to travel up to Coed-y-Brenin (approx 2 and a half hours) and get a full days riding, as this seems to be the best
centre in Wales with the biggest choice of trails. Theres also a number of campsites around the area so spend the night here.
Sun 15th - Short drive to Coed Llandegla (less than an hour) for more riding before driving home from there (approx 4 hours)

Possibly going in September, Nick. Looking to go early on a saturday and coming back sunday evening. Should be room for 1 more in my motor if you're interested.

RE Bedgebury this weekend. We agreed the 23rd, What time would people like to meet? I was thinking 930? As it will leave time for a loop of the red run with out taking up the hole day.

Seeing as Keith's away until Monday I don't see we can have the official meet up this weekend, bit out of order on Keith seeing he's organising the whole trip and wont be able to be there?
