Mountain biking that is.

I have recently had another hard crash, resulting in bruised kidney and fractured clavicle.

In 2010 i broke my pelvis and Oct 2011 i broke my elbow and wrist.

The people have seen my crashes, have all said that i have been majorly unlucky suffering breakages from them, i dont seem to be able to catch a break (excuse the pun) when it comes to crashing.

The evening of my recent crash, i thought, is it really worth it, sell the Bank and move on.

Just wondered if anyone else has came close to giving up?

I do have a tendency to push a little too hard.

After a day of thinking it through, i will definitely continue riding and i still aim to enter a few 4x races next year.

I crashed and gave it up, nearly broke my neck in fact. a few years out the game and I'm back on it pushing way more than I used to. I'd say maybe take a break, but definitely don't give it up!

maybe look at some coaching like with ukbikeskills, i crash less than i did now.

could be a small thing you are missing that is stopping you controlling and causing you to crash?

Gave up riding after a hit and run on the road, 16 years off bikes
gave up mtb one winter when i broke the bike badly and couldnt aford to get it fixed, cost me a relationship with the then missus.
Never again...

Sounds like you've had some bad luck, have you thought of getting a skills lesson to boost your confidence and teechnique?

Healing vibes to you :)

After my first two crashes i started getting coaching from Tom Dowie, where i was making good progress.

I kept on having a tendency to drop my rear wheel when jumping, so on Saturday i got a bit frustrated and tried to suck the rear wheel up, and went straight out of the front door.

My problem is that i want to be really good instantly, which i have now realised is not going to happen, but i have learnt the hard way not to force things.

I think more coaching would be good, run it back to basics and work up from there.

Sounds like some nasty injuries so I can understand, I've always thought I will just ride XC when I can't take the knocks anymore. Coaching sounds like a good idea, been considering it my self just to see what a coach makes of my self taught ways.

thats exactly why i tried it.
i now crash less, jump off more stuff and have a better time riding than i ever did wobbling about with my old dodgy cornering and jump style

Don't give it up. Sometimes you might have to accept you're not as young/fast/rad/ as you'd like to be but I can't imagine life without riding.

+1 for a trip to see Tony at ukbikeskills. I 'm certain Tony will bring on more of an improvement in your riding in 4 or 5 hrs than you (or probably another coach) can manage in a year. Where he really excels is in the psychological/mental side of your riding. Might be just what you need...

Healing vibes!

Cheers guys!

Maybe another coach may help, working on my psychological/mental side is key i think, will definitely look into it when i am ready to get back on the bike.

Where does his coaching take place?
