I've popped it into my local bike shop so they can have a look. I think the front pads and rotor are contaminated so will be replacing. The back has a slight leak by the lever so will not be using it until I'm happy with them.
Pyro I'm still gonna use the Stuff for messing around locally so the avids are staying on.

I second the SX trail 1 (2008), I've just sold mine but it was pretty good and everything if not a little heavy for long hills and the odd carrying.

I would like to suggest either the Scott Ransom (Alu or Carbon) or Genius (Normal or LT) - Both bikes are in the budget and can handle anything you throw at them. When I had my Ransom I literally could use it for everything and I have not found a bike so versatile so far. I even done a week or two bikeability training when my GT Aggressor was out of action.
