It says on the council petition website you need to live in the area to beable to sign the petition.

Screw that. I know a few local addresses. But it's publicly owned land at the moment so any member of the public should be able to sign so not sure where they would stand on that if challenged. It may just be default text for any petition.

I signed it yesterday and as yet haven't received confirmation by email and am wandering if it's due to this.

Worked fine for me. Got verification email to my Hotmail account.
