Baking flour is a better way to mark out on floor, then ribbons that going take time.

Yeah it would be a bit of an effort, but you'd only need to do the start maybe gaffer tape or hazard tape around two trees and any where else where there's more than one direction, then again at the end.

I haven't got Strava, I use MapMyRide, but It'd be easy enough to get the Strava App ... it's free isn't it??

Lots of fun ideas and good to see there is some interest.

“car bonnet, donkey kong, bacon buttie pot, walkie talkies, spray painted arrows, ribbons, baking flour, strava, brown sauce, water crossing, gaffer tape” :wtf:

For obvious reasons there will be no marking out of the course. I will figure out a way of getting enough info out there, ahead of the event and on the day, so everyone has a good chance, if they put the effort in, of knowing where they are going.

In my experience GPS tracking in the woods isn’t accurate enough for these length runs (40secs to 120secs) especially when you throw in stravafails and stravagifts … but ill do some experimenting in laying down some segments and seeing how accurate they are. At the mo duct tape a watch and some pen and paper is my preferred option as its low hassle, reliable and easy. It could result in some comedy run ending fumbling as people try and stop them!

Ill get a date up in the next week or so and some further info.

Also if 'we' can get a few people to sort the runs out and session them in the run up, if they're ridden enough the trail will be clear for all to see, maybe a broom on the day to make sure its more distinguishable from other tracks near by ? or do the boy scout thing of marking the trail with sticks at any cross paths ?

Epping is a bit of trek from me but happy to help where/if i can

Is there a walkie talkie type app for smartphones like the old orange 'speak' thingy that used bluetooth or some other magic ? my mates and i used to use it at car shows to keep in contact, a nominated person at start and finish and two stop watches and we're sorted, rider ready, pedals ready....go !

something like this maybe - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidintercom&hl=en
