Ebay have recently changed their policy on charging for postage, which is weird and you have to adapt your prices to compensate for this !
I haven't recently set up a store although I have downloaded the contents of 1000's for work....

Why had you downloaded 1000's for work?

I often review the content of stores for work...

The postage thing is very annoying as it doesn't reflect actual costs.

I helped a mate set up a store a while back and it was not worth the fees unless you are selling mad volume

Yeh, mad volume isn't something I will be doing anytime soon!

My plan is/was to use it as a stepping stone into the market to gain some market share and drive business to my existing website.....eventually.

Thanks for the feeback

Seems lots of people complain about the stores and you have to keep up a certain % of positive reviews and the 5 star review thingie or Ebay get stroppy.

Still guess people use it ok, pity there are not many alternatives. I'm not a fan of Ebay and especially Paypal but its hard to do without them.

Yeh it's a vicious circle. eBay has monopoly and no competition, so they can do what they like. Building commerce into my site is going to cost the better part of £500. So ebay is a logical consideration initially. But after looking into it more I may have to go ecommerce and work on SEO instead.

May be slower but I hate to feed the beast ;)
