Has anyone shimmed a dropper post and how did it work out? Looking at a Thompson 27.2 as the seat tube is bang on 30.0 mm. So that and a shim in my mind will work fine, but wondering if anyone had real world experience?

Shimmed a 27.2 gravity dropper into a 30.9 seat tube, and 30.9 ks lev into a 31.6 seat tube no problems at all.. Remember to grease between shim and frame, you don't want them to permanently fuse..

I've shimmed 3 posts before, not a problem to do it but it can creek if mud gets in so just keep it clean. I used USE shims from wiggle.

Ive got a ebay dropper with a shim in a 31.6.

needed a bolt up clamp rather than a QR to get it to hold
