I am all for camping since I have all the gear. Better atmosphere & BBQ/beer to go with it. I must remember NOT too drink too much the night before.

Anyone going up on Friday for the early Saturday Challenge/Sport ride? Considering the distance, I fancy a 2 night stay and 2 rides.

Matt & Geoff, assuming that we have not booked any of the Saturday rides, do you know from when & how long for are we able to do few practice runs on Sat?

practice is all day though it will take a few hours to ride (5ish) to get round, you could do stages 1, 2 and 5 which would cut it down to 2ish hours but I want to get my moneys worth and ride both days. Probably going up Friday as its a long drive.

I was wondering why they would charge for those two Saturday rides if it is open to practice. I thought the free practice may only start in the afternoon after the paying riders have had their fun.

Is it worth paying for the Sport or Challenge then? I will go up on Friday too but still plenty of time

You are given your race numbers when you turn up, the marshes won't allow anyone that has not got one to ride the course (wether it be for racing or practice). There are marshals dotted about at start and finish of stages, some junctions or important turns ect

Sports class racing on Saturday is timed by the marshals for the whole loop, no timed stages (that's what you are paying for by entering)

The 35km sport event is on the saturday with 3 timed sections. I would guess they start before everyone else is allowed on the course to practice. It says a more detailed timetable will be released closer to the date.

Saturday 8 August
All-Mountain Challenge
Enduro Sport Class
Stages open for practice

Sorry got confussed, meant all mountain challenge, not sure how they will run the sports class and practice but I would expect a free for all like they did with all mountain/practice last year (though the all mountain did start early)

Cheers guys. I will wait for more info to become available before booking the Sport ride. With Sunday being sold out and Challenge also running alongside Sport, I don't think it will be gone anytime soon.

Pete, I hope you get a ticket but it's good to know we have our own mechanic on site. And with the team jerseys included, we will look like a proper team (but at some point the excessive eating and drinking will give us away)

I am debating taking my big tent, its a 9 berth 3 bedroom affair, will have to see, only down side is it takes up a lot of valuable drink space in the car.

Yeah, I saw the fb message. Nice one mate. It seem to be an army of us. To early to to discuss now but it's very likely I will head up there on Friday pm to make the most of the journey and riding the Dales. Should be a laugh.
