I think the GP2 has the GP3 Silver in image quality from this test

No idea why - I thought they had the same sensor. Might just be the default exposure setting for each is different.

The white edition is a Hero, the silver is a Hero 2 and the black is the new Hero 3. They've just put the hero 1 & 2 in a new case with wi fi

Go pro 2 on order - thanks santa :-) some good prices out there. got in@£189 on amazon - think it's jumped since then though.

I don't think the difference in quality will be worth another £80 to get the Silver. Taking off gloves, getting your phone out and using an app won't be as easy as pushing singular tactile buttons on even the worst UI, so I don't think wifi tips the scales either, and the weight difference only matters if the rider can't lose anymore. I'm not in that boat...

dammit!

actually...how would that work? wifi upload to cloud, app stream from cloud? or is it a device to device connection? and how do you mobilise a wifi connection to the middle of the woods anyway...? you'd need some kind of device to transmit a signal on your person wouldn't you?

have I got the wrong end of the stick...?

The GoPro is the Wireless transmitter, when you're out in the woods with no other WiFi hotspots around, the phone will automatically connect to it.

Yes the gopro emits a wifi signal, its all very simple once you've set it up the first time.
