Sums it all up really tho!!

We pay for it to be done in the first place but we cant ride it for 3 years after the main event!
What a joke, meanwhile we can all go over to wales and ride there instead.

It is a bit of a joke.... all the momentum to get the legacy and the Olympics of the ground and everyone's enthusiasm going, now told to wait :(:(... so for this reason I'm out... I'll prefer to ride Wales and all the great places they are building in double quick time to enjoy more...

Its a bit more complicated than just getting the changes done and opening it.

They can't open the site to public use until the visitors centre etc has been built due to no first aid and also site insurance. You can't have hoards of people on site whilst its still a building site at one end.

The whole legacy process is actually running quite smoothly. I was in talks with the velopark and they won't be open until early 2014 so I guess they're working on the same time scale.

The rebuild on the course isn't just those changes in the video. They are only a few examples. There are lots more trails being added as well as a new surface etc and the pump track.... something that can't just be completed in a few weekends to a decent standard.

By the looks of things they are doing it properly, properly takes time and it will be an amazing centre once finished. I know everyones gagging to ride it as am I when the new trails appear. Its all the H&S, planning permissions, liasing with all the numerous contractors etc that takes time and everyone knows how long it takes councils to do things.
Please be patient, offer your support and you'll have the best trail centre in the east of england.......hopefully by november time

You could always try the course in reverse that might liven things up alittle

Hi Gents,

I am riding the course tomorrow and friend of mine just dropped in from Australia and is keen, but we worried he is not up to standard (black run).

How technical is the course? (I am fully aware this is subjective, but all I am looking for is opinions).

I have watched the videos and been to the track but not actually ridden it as yet. It doesn't look anything like a black run too me. But its hard to tell from a distance. Is it really a black run or is it mainly health and safety?

Any and all opinions welcome.

I'd say it is nowhere near runs that are considered black in the Alps, in fact, I'd say it isnt as difficult as most of the red, blue or even green runs in Morzine, Les Gets, etc or even steep as Danbury, Chicksands, etc

It may be black as XC runs go, It's hard to compare them with DH.

There is nothing really steep or big drops or jumps, the steepest party is perhaps the leap of faith bit which does look a bit daunting from the top but mainly coz the first bit has a hig tree root and the run down is all rocks..which leads me to the second point...ROCKS..when I chatted to Tom over there he used the phrase 'unforgiving' and that sums it up, whilst it isn't that difficult is is strewn with rocks, some of which are rather jagged, most DH runs I e been on are mostly softish mud/dirt.

There are some bits of the course where you do not want to come off ! The rock garden took a few casualities during the Olympics and it was painful to watch as they had open face lids and no pads, as this classic pic shows :)

You doing it with the guides ?. I'm sure they give some good tips.

Andy
